Sustainability

At Cathryn Worrell Art & Illustration, I do my best to make eco-friendly choices in my life and at work. I recognise that the small decisions I make can have a big impact. As a small business owner I make a conscious effort to drastically reduce the amount of plastic I use and do my best to source recyclable and local materials, even if it costs a bit more.

I've found suppliers who are committed to eco-friendly solutions that maximize recycled content and are designed for recyclability and reusability.

For example, my prints are supplied in glassine paper sleeves, which are biodegradable and my stickers are printed on paper rather than vinyl.

My greeting cards are printed on recycled paper and I'm phasing in cards printed on paper made from recycled coffee cups. Recycled paper bands are used to package greeting card sets, and individual cards are now supplied with no packaging other than the paper they're wrapped in for shipping.

Where older art prints are still in stock they may still be supplied in plastic sleeves while I phase out their use.

I also have products printed in small numbers to avoid waste and overuse of paper and energy.

In addition to my committed suppliers and keeping production to a minimum, I reuse packing materials as much as possible. Often you’ll find packing peanuts or reused bubble wrap in your order, and these are getting a second life to help bring you your package safely. All other packaging is recycled and recyclable, even down to the parcel tape. The only exception may be the tear strip on some of the cardboard envelopes which may still contain plastic.

I enjoy finding ways to have a smaller ecological footprint and will continue to do so. I know you'll agree that this is really important.
