Simplifying the creative process

So far this year I've been trying to focus on simplicity. Paring back, figuring out what's most important. And a big part of that is linked to my work and finding a balance between detail and looser, more expressive marks.

This process feels playful and there's a strong sense of curiosity involved too. So, often I don't know exactly how I'm going to approach a picture until I sit down and think 'I wonder what would happen if I tried this...'

Sometimes 'this' doesn't work, or at least not in the way I expected it to but that's OK - it's all part of exploring isn't it?
