5 things I've been enjoying: March 2023

Podcasts, a tv programme, a book and a video which I’ve really enjoyed over the past few months. I hope you find something here that you enjoy too.

  1. As the Season Turns podcast by Lia Leendertz, especially January’s episode. This podcast series is by the author of The Almanac and features sounds and stories in-keeping with the season. January’s episode was full of things that felt really close to my heart so I hop eyou enjoy listening to it too.

  2. Double Take: A Second Look at the Joy of Seeing, by Bobbie Herron This is the second book from my friend Bobbie, a personal memoir filled with notes and paintings from her sketchbook and I devoured it. It was one of those books that you can’t put down but are sad to finish.

  3. The Artist who Couldn’t Draw: an animated film by Danny Gregory I love this video from Danny Gregory. It sums up what I got out of reading his books when I first started to draw again about 10 years ago.

  4. The Hibernation Podcasts from Michael Nobbs My pal Michael has been making podcasts for a very long time now and the episodes he recorded over this past autumn and winter are publicly available over on his Patreon page. I’m sure you’ll appreciate the slow pace and cosy feel.

  5. Episode 3 of The Last of Us For one reason or another I occasionally end up watching some sort of Sci-Fi series, even though that genre’s not my first choice, and every now and again an episode will catch me off guard and leave me a sobbing mess! The Last of Us is the most recent of these and episode 3 was the one that got me. I’d say it’s probably a stand-alone episode that you might be able to watch without seeing the rest of the series (although I’d suggest watching the whole thing, even if, like me, the idea of a zombie apocalypse series sounds like the last thing you’d be interested in).
