First Fabric Designs

Grey and yellow digital Pyrex fabric designs

Last week I shared a few sketches I’d made for a course I’m doing, run by Lilla Rogers. This week I’ve made a start on the first big assignment, which is to create one or more designs for fabric.

I decided to do this work digitally, which is something I’ve only done a few times in the past to colour some of my drawings. I’m keen to keep learning about making digital artwork, particularly because it’s just out of my comfort zone.

But this has meant that most of today was spent figuring out the best way to convert my original drawings into digital format, without having to trace each one individually (essentially drawing everything again).

Only a tiny fraction of my time today was spent actually creating the layout and choosing the colours.

This is what I’ve come up with so far and I’m hoping to have another stab at it later in the week to see if I can create some other interesting designs. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the next one done a bit quicker!
