Creative Links #4: Simplifying and Staying Sane During the Festive Season

St Pancras Christmas tree

I’m finding that as Christmas gets closer this year I’m feeling the urge to start decluttering again. I’m not sure if there’s a link between the two but maybe it’s because it feels like there’s so much to plan and do that the idea of retreating or keeping things simple feels really appealing.

This has been on my mind for a few weeks so some of last week’s links were about simplifying things and this week’s are following the same theme.

  • I came across a blog post that Courtney Carver wrote a few years ago about ways to simplify the holiday season.
  • I know I’ve shared a lot of Joy’s blog posts recently but I think we’re on the same wavelength with a lot of things. This week she wrote a lovely post about keeping holiday gifts to a minimum by focusing on experiences and starting a new family tradition.
  • Crystal Moody is fast approaching the end of her brilliant 365-day project and she’s written about how to avoid clutter when you make a lot of art.
  • This isn’t specific to the festive season but I think it’s worth bearing in mind the ideas that Koosje Koene has for staying sane over the next few weeks!

[Note: I’ve been posting on my blog 5 days a week for a while now but over the next two weeks my plan is to post something once a week. I’ll get back to a more regular pattern in the new year and I hope you enjoy the festivities over the next couple of weeks, whatever your plans are.]
