Urban Sketching: At the Tate Modern

Last Saturday I went along to another enjoyable London Urban Sketchers meet-up. This time it was at the Tate Modern Gallery at Bankside and it was great to catch up with a few friends and meet some new people. Although it was a beautiful, sunny day, it was extremely cold so after this first sketch of St Paul’s Cathedral I retreated indoors to warm up.

My second sketch of the morning was from the 6th floor of the main building looking north-east towards the City.

After checking in with the rest of the group (and there were a LOT of people there this month!) it was time for lunch. I then took a few photos from the top floor of the new extension to the gallery, known as The Switch House, before heading down to the 8th floor to draw my third and final drawing of the day looking west over London.

The whole group met again at the end of the day to share our sketches and take a few photos, and then I made my way home to rest and defrost.
