Last week I completed my latest daily drawing project which was to combine pattern making (something I already do regularly) with lettering (something I want to do more of). These are my 26 finished letters. I created the outlines for some using a pencil and ruler but most were done freehand, and I used all kinds of different mediums – watercolour paint, watercolour pencils, and various different pens. All the images at the top of this post are clickable if you want to see a bigger version of any of the letters.

The sketchbook I used was a Stillman and Birn Beta sketchbook, which I’ve loved using. Thankfully I have a second one that I’m using for some other work at the moment, and my next daily sketchbook is going to be a Hahnemuhle watercolour book. I’ve never used that brand before so I’m looking forward to giving it a try.

I hope you had/ are having a happy and peaceful holiday season and I’ll be back here in 2017! Next Monday I’m re-opening my Etsy shop and there’ll be a few short-term special offers and some new products too, so keep an eye out for those! In the meantime you can see what I’m up to each day on Instagram. See you next week!
