This week I decided to start a new daily project. Lately I’ve been using the patterns I made earlier in the year to create one-off original watercolour artwork that I’m selling in my shop, and I’ve also made some technical repeat patterns from some of them.
Building on that I’ve decided to work on my hand lettering and over the next 24 days (I started yesterday and have already done today’s) I plan on creating a patterned letter in my sketchbook each day. My idea is to work through the alphabet and create a new design each day. No doubt some will be more complex and others quite simple. That is as far as my plan goes at the moment so I’m just going to see how things develop over the next few weeks.
Have you got any creative projects on the go at the moment?
Oh, and if you were thinking of ordering from my Etsy shop in time for Christmas, these are my final posting dates, so if you’re in Africa or the Middle East you need to get your order in today (Wednesday 30th November)! I’ll be closing the doors to my shop on Friday 16th December and re-opening in early January so if you want something before then, don’t miss your chance – especially if it’s a one-off rather than a print or card!
This week I have some more new items in my shop to tell you about. The first is this blue original watercolour illustration of fish, which is based on a similar painting I did in my sketchbook earlier this year. This is a one-off and, unlike my other original pieces I probably won’t be making prints of this one because my scanner did weird things with the colours.
The second item now available for purchase is an A5 giclée, archival quality print of the watercolour socks illustration I recently painted in my sketchbook. For the moment I only have 10 of these available and I’m not sure yet whether I’ll be having any more printed, so don’t miss out!
Today I’m really pleased to let you know that I have 2 new items available to purchase in my Etsy shop. First of all is a winter-themed greetings card featuring a watercolour illustration I recently made of mittens and hats. It’s a card that’s perfect for Christmas or any other winter holiday, although since it’s blank inside you could use it for any greeting throughout winter.
There is also another piece of original art available to buy. I’ve recently started making original watercolour artwork based on my 100 patterns from earlier this year. Last week I sold an orange geometric watercolour pattern and now I have this rainbow watercolour artwork. Since it’s original art rather than a print there is only one available so don’t miss out!
I took part in Inktober again this October, which involves making an ink drawing every day for the whole month. Last year I drew whatever took my fancy each day but this year I decided to challenge myself a bit more by using the prompts that were published on Instagram.
Some days were more difficult than others, and some drawings didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked but that’s not really the point. Here are my 31 drawings from Inktober 2016 (each one is clickable if you want to see the full size image).
