More (and more) Patterns

Leaf and flower repeat pattern

This week I decided to make another pattern but rather than re-draw and re-colour things digitally I decided to use my artwork in its original ‘state’.

I made some new drawings in my sketchbook over the weekend and the beginning of this week. Then I learned a bit more about Photoshop and Illustrator, which meant that I could keep the texture of the pen and watercolour in the final pattern.

Because I’ve been enjoying making patterns I decided to join the 100 Day Project which started on 19th April, and I’m aiming to create a pattern a day for 100 days.

I have no idea how this will go, or if I’ll be able to make 100 patterns but we’ll see what happens. I already started a day late so maybe I’ll tag on a day at the end to ‘catch up’. For now though, I’m using a pocket-sized sketchbook in the hope that a smaller page size will make things easier –  who knows!

I’ve created the hashtag #100daysofpatternsbycathryn on Instagram so you can use that to keep a check on my progress if you’re that way inclined. I’ll also be sharing them on Twitter and Facebook.

Are you taking part in the 100 Day Project or any other daily/regular creative project at the moment?

Wow! Love the patterns. The Danny Gregory book has arrived and I’m feeling ready to start again. The idea of a pattern a day is intriguing

Thanks. I hope you’re enjoying the book. I’d also recommend one of Danny’s other books, ‘A Kiss Before You Go’, as well as all of his other stuff on drawing and illustrated journaling.
