Drawing August is now over and looking back over the 31 drawings I made, I remember which of my photos I used for reference, what I like and hate about each one, and in some cases, how I was feeling or what I was doing on each of those days.
The point at which I got new markers is also clear from the change in colours during the second half of the month. I definitely think that doing something over and over again is a good way to improve but it’s a great way to get more confident at doing that thing too. So I don’t think I’m great at drawing people but I think I’m improving and I’m less scared of it now.
I’ve also decided that I’m going to keep this sketchbook as the place where I draw pictures of people. My plan during September is to try to go outside to draw people as often as possible, which means that my drawings might become looser or messier but again, if I want to get better and more confident at drawing people from real life then the only way to do that is to do it!
If you’d like to see my drawings from August in more detail you can click on the image at the top of this post, which will take you to a hi-res version of that photo collage. Alternatively you can see the individual photos I took of each drawing on my Instagram account.
