A Web of Confusion

Spider's web with blurred background

A bit like last week, this photo was something of an accident. I was out on my balcony yesterday morning cutting back some plants that have died down and I spotted this spider’s web.

This web was on the outside of the balcony railing which kind of limited my choice of angle for a start. Then, of course the auto-focus couldn’t quite get to grips with a spider’s web so I went into manual mode and took a snap.

I didn’t look at the picture until I checked it on my computer screen later in the day and it wasn’t quite what I’d expected. It’s a lot more abstract than I thought it was going to be, which I guess is down to the wide aperture and the fact that the trees in the background were quite a way away.

It left me quite confused for a while because I couldn’t work out if I loved this photograph or if I should delete it. In the end I decided I did like it. I think it’s just a bit different from a lot of photos I take so it’s taking a bit of time but it’s starting to grow on me.

Does your creative work ever surprise or confuse you (or is that just me!)?

As I told you on FB… I love this! This is right up my alley! 😉

I love when my photos surprise me (which is more difficult given we see what we snap immediately unlike in the “olden” days when we had to wait until the film was developed…
