Challenges

I seem to be setting little creative challenges for myself lately, which I think is generally a good thing even though they keep overlapping.

The photography course I did overlapped with the drawing course that I’m still doing, and that is now overlapping with my latest ‘thing’ – Drawing August.

Drawing August

I came across Drawing August a few days ago and I think the name is fairly self-explanatory but in case it’s not, you can read more about it here.

As the name suggests, the idea is to draw every day in August and then tweet a photo of your drawing, including the hashtag #drawingaugust so participants can keep track of everyone’s work.

I thought I’d post my drawings here as well, starting with this one.

New Art Kit

I’ve had my new sketchbook and pens for a while now and although I’ve used the pens quite a few times I hadn’t made a start on the book, so I thought that the beginning of this month-long challenge was as good a time as any to make my first marks on its pages.

My pens and book were my reward in celebration of what I’ve done over the past year.

Keeping it Simple

I wasn’t sure what to draw for my first #drawingaugust drawing so I took that as a sign that I should stop thinking about it so much and just draw something. It didn’t matter what I drew just so long as I did draw.

I’m not sure how the month’s worth of drawings will turn out. I might add colour, I might stick to black and white, no doubt some of the drawings won’t be very good, I may even miss one or more days of drawing, but I’ll try to keep up as best I can and see what happens.
